Institut Pasteur de Dakar

The Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) is a century-old, non-profit foundation under Senegalese law, recognized as a public utility foundation dedicated to advancing public health and well-being in Africa and beyond. For over 85 years, IPD has been producing vaccines, driven by a single mission to : Accelerate equitable, sustainable, and affordable access to healthcare in Senegal, across Africa, and globally.
Founded in 1924 IPD engages in cutting-edge biomedical research, develops vaccines and diagnostics, provides essential public health services, and trains the next generation of African health professionals.
At IPD, our teams work to inspire, educate, and attract passionate, visionary scientists to develop impactful solutions to public health challenges. Our goal is to lead, influence, and improve human health—every day—in a safe, ethical, and sustainable manner.

IPD’s vision is : Save and Protect Lives

IPD’s work is structured around five strategic pillars:
1. Biomedical Research and Innovation
2. Vaccine and Diagnostic Production
3. Public Health, Epidemiological Surveillance, and Epidemic Response
4. Education, Training, and Talent Development
5. Healthcare Solutions and Specialized Laboratories
Through these pillars, IPD delivers high-quality services, including clinical diagnosis, human vaccination, and food safety testing, while remaining one of the few institutions in Africa producing human vaccines.
