Pasteur Network Associate Membership

The Pasteur Network includes two categories of membership: Active Members and Associate Members.

Each category has distinct roles and privileges.
The key difference lies in the level of involvement and decision-making power.

Active Members

Active Members are fully integrated into the network, participating in governance and holding voting rights. They vote in the General Assembly, elect the Board of Directors, and help shape the strategic direction of the network.

Associate Members

Associate Members are valued partners who support the network’s mission and collaborate with Active Members on research and other initiatives. However, they do not have voting rights or governance roles.

To ensure a global and credible representation, applications for Associate Membership must be sponsored by three Active Members from at least two different regions. These sponsors formally endorse the applicant’s alignment with the network’s mission, reach, and values.

The total number of Associate Members may not exceed one-third of the number of Active Members.

Overview of Associate Member Fees

The Pasteur Network has a five-tiered fee structure for all its members, including new associate members. The goal is to ensure financial equity and sustainability across the network. The tiers are determined by a country’s GDP per capita and an organization’s operational budget.

Annual Fees by Tier

The annual fees for associate members, which are due at the start of the calendar year, correspond to their assigned tier:

  • Tier 1: €50,000
  • Tier 2: €40,000
  • Tier 3: €30,000
  • Tier 4: €20,000
  • Tier 5: €10,000
One-Time Entry Fees for New Associate Members

In addition to the annual fees, new associate members from higher-income regions are required to pay a one-time entry fee in their first year:

  • Tier 1: €40,000
  • Tier 2: €30,000

Examples Members by Tier

  • Tier 1: Canada, Belgium, France, Italy, Greece, Brazil, and French Outre-Mer (Guadeloupe, French Guiana, New Caledonia).
  • Tier 2: Uruguay, South Korea, Hong Kong, Russia, and Bulgaria.
  • Tier 3: Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal.
  • Tier 4: Laos, Cambodia, Cameroon, and Vietnam.
  • Tier 5: Iran, Guinea, Niger, Mdagascar, and the Central African Republic.

  • The application will then be presented to the Pasteur Network Board of Directors for consideration.
  • The Board meets twice a year (June and between October–December).

Step 3: Member Webinar

  • Within three weeks of the Board’s review, a webinar will be organized.
  • The applicant institution will present its mission, work, and strategic fit with the Pasteur Network to all members.

Step 4: General Assembly Vote

  • The final step is a vote by the Pasteur Network General Assembly.
