PRESS RELEASE - Pasteur Network & Camber Collective Selected as the Secretariat for the Collective Action on Dengue

Pasteur Network & Camber Collective have been chosen as the Secretariat for the newly established Collective Action on Dengue, a global initiative aimed at accelerating efforts to combat the rising threat of dengue and other arboviruses. This selection marks a pivotal step in advancing coordinated action against mosquito-borne diseases, which are spreading rapidly due to climate change and urbanization.
Dengue cases have surged to unprecedented levels, with over 12 million cases reported globally in 2024—almost double the 6.5 million cases recorded in 2023, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) . This alarming rise is placing immense pressure on already strained healthcare systems. In response, the Collective Action on Dengue (CAD), established after the Global Dengue Forum Meeting at COP28, aims to tackle this urgent public health crisis through transformative collaboration, and unites a diverse group of experts on health, research, public policy, advocacy and environmental science.
Recognizing the dynamic nature of dengue response, the Collective Action on Dengue has identified three key objectives that remain open to adaptation:
- Increase attention and action on dengue and arbovirus control through strategic advocacy and communications.
- Enhance coordination and information-sharing among relevant stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaboration and resource mobilization for targeted initiatives, including local demonstration projects that inform global strategies.
To achieve these objectives, the Collective Action on Dengue has established three interconnected pillars for action that remain open to adaptation: Urbanization, Innovation, and Advocacy. These focus areas reflect the top critical needs for engaging communities, leveraging technological advancements, and shaping policies to mitigate the impact of dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases. Climate change is expanding mosquito habitats and intensifying disease transmission, making these threats increasingly urgent.
As Secretariat, Pasteur Network & Camber Collective will play a central role in managing and coordinating the Collective’s activities, including supporting the Steering Committee, currently co-chaired by Eng Eong Ooi (Duke-NUS Medical School) and Marianne Comparet (International Society for Neglected Tropical Diseases), and overseeing external communications and events. The Secretariat will also work to secure sustainable funding to ensure the long-term success of the Collective’s initiatives.
“The selection of Pasteur Network & Camber Collective as the Secretariat for the Collective Action on Dengue represents a significant step in the fight against dengue and other arboviruses,” said Rebecca Grais, Executive Director of Pasteur Network. “Through strategic coordination and collaborative action, we are committed to reducing the burden of dengue and safeguarding the health of communities worldwide.”
We appreciate Takeda’s support in kickstarting this initiative. The Pasteur Network, Camber Collective, and the Steering Committee member organizations are excited about the impact we can achieve together through this collaboration.
The Collective Action on Dengue invites organizations and stakeholders from diverse sectors to join its mission and contribute to a world free from dengue.
