Fiocruz’s Network Technological Platforms.
The Fiocruz Rondônia Bioprospecting Platform offers 23 specialized services in the preparation, analysis, and purification of bioactives. Services include fractionation and isolation of biomolecules using different liquid chromatography techniques, characterization of the isoelectric point and determination of the molecular mass of protein samples, determination of the partial sequence of amino acid residues from the N-terminal region of purified proteins, and screening of in vitro molecular interactions between ligands of recombinant origin and analytes using the surface plasmon resonance technique, as well as determination of ligand/analyte interaction constants.

This platform is located in FIOCRUZ – Rondônia.

The Platform for the Characterization of Biological and Synthetic Nanovehicles (VBS) has applications primarily in active-ingredient delivery. Unique in Quebec, it works in close synergy with industry.
VBS provides a wide range of services to meet the needs of the university research community and healthcare, research, and biotechnology companies. Apart from the technical services it offers, VBS provides high-level training in bioimaging.

Located in Laval on the INRS – Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie campus, the Electron Microscopy Platform (EM) has been offering you a range of high-quality imaging services since 1963. The platform makes it possible to carry out research using transmission and scanning electron microscopy technologies to meet the needs of universities, scientific communities and health, research or biotechnology industries. In addition to the technical services offered, the EMP allows the training of a high-level succession in life imaging.

The facility offers services to express recombinant proteins in prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems (E. coli, mammalian cells, insect cells); Optimization of the expression of soluble recombinant proteins; Refolding and soluble production of bacterial inclusion bodies; Maintenance of collections of expression vectors and bacterial strains.

The facility provides equipment, training, assistance, and technological innovations for determining and analyzing three-dimensional structures of proteins and macromolecular assemblies.

Our platform facilitates the exploration of protein-protein interactions (PPI) within living cells, utilizing a diverse range of high-throughput methods. We harness the power of the Bioluminescence Resonance Energy Transfer (BRET) technique for the precise quantification of proteins of interest, including, for example, pathogen/host protein pairs. What distinguishes our method is its capability to continuously monitor these interactions in real time within living cells for extended durations. This versatile approach supports a wide array of applications, including PPI validation, time-lapse PPI cell quantification, assessment of affinity in mutant PPI pairs, PPI competition studies, and screening for PPI modulators in drug discovery.
