International Severe Acute Respiratory Infections Consortium (ISARIC)

ISARIC’s main objective is to ensure that global clinical research on severe acute respiratory illness and other emerging infectious diseases can be conducted in a timely, efficient, targeted, and coordinated manner to maximize the information gained from studies and help save lives.

ISARIC is a multi-regional consortium of hospital-based clinical and laboratory networks. The aim is to conduct world-class pathogenesis and treatment research in the inter-pandemic influenza period and to provide a platform through which clinical studies can be rapidly undertaken in response to the emergence of an influenza pandemic or other novel infectious disease threat. The goal is to connect existing networks and expand others as seen fit to guarantee inclusion of vulnerable populations and coverage of key geographical areas where new threats might emerge.
